OVERVIEW

This is one of the most spectacular safaris while in Uganda you shouldn't miss. It involves visiting man's closest relative the chimpanzee at the primate capital of the world Kibale forest National Park. You will head to Queen Elizabeth National park the largest in Uganda which located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. Lions are often sighted both in the park and at the entrance to the park. Lastly, head south to meet man's closest cousin the mountain Gorilla at Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Itinerary;

Day 1: Arrival in Kampala.

You will be picked up from the airport by a representative of your hotel and later meets your driver/ guide in the afternoon or evening. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may be able to explore the sites in and around Entebbe or Kampala. Activities today are at your own costs.

Evening arrive at your accommodation get prepared for the next day safari to Kibale, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 2: From kampla to Fort Portal/ Kibale Forest.

Depart in the morning after breakfast drive 6hrs to Fort Portal in western Uganda. The route is incredibly scenic, passing through tea plantations and the lush green countryside which characterizes so much of Uganda. The last hour of the journey will take you through dense forest and sounds of the wild.

Arrive on evening at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Community walk.

After breakfast in the morning depart for Chimpanzee tracking, meet experienced forest ranger will take you chimp tracking in the morning or afternoon. You might also see other monkey species that live in this tropical forest. Once located, you will spend a full hour with the chimps. Since they are still wild animals, we can never guarantee you to see them and might have to settle with hearing their hoots and hollers.

Proceed with r swamp walk (2-3 hours) will take you through grassland, small communities and some beautiful scenery, where the locals are likely to greet you with enthusiastic waves. It is usual to spot three to four different primate species during this walk, though the highlight is catching a glimpse of the great blue turaco.

Optional: Chimpanzee Habituation tracking:

At an additional fee of only $70 us dollar pp you do the chimpanzee habituation tracking instead of the regular chimpanzee tracking. This will take all day and you will be 100% sure to have a very close encounter with your closest relatives. Book this in time because only 6 persons per day are allowed to go. Your swamp walk can be postponed to the next morning.
Arrive back at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

In the morning, you can relax at your lodge, make a Crater Lake hike or visit a nearby tea plantation, where you will be able to assist the tea pickers and learn about how leaves are selected for the highest quality (Optional visit at your own cost) you will then continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
On afternoon arrive at Queen Elizabeth for lunch then afterward depart with evening drive, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 5: Game Drive & Boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Have an early breakfast at your hotel and then head out for a long game drive in time to see the first rays of light. It’s a must see of any of these animals like Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Waterbuck, Leopard, Uganda Kob, and many Warthogs.
In the afternoon after lunch you will take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake George and Lake Edward.

Optional Activities Lion tracking $85 dollar per person.
It’s 1-3hours unique activity which allows visitors to actively participate in monitoring some of the lions in the park, using locator devices and learn habituation calls, as well as monitoring weather, surroundings and behavior.
Chimp tracking Kyambura Gorge $50 dollars per person, the spectacular Kyambura Gorge also called the “Valley of Apes”, is located in the eastern corner of Queen Elizabeth. The landscape is among the most impressive you will find in Uganda. Enter into the Gorge and you will be marveled by the verdant, rich Tropical Rain-forest right close to the Equator crossing. You can make a wonderful hike here looking for chimpanzees. On evening arrive at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking.

Close up & get personal with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Especially hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. A unique and unforgettable experience!

 

Day 7: The Batwa Trail.

Today you will enjoy the Batwa Trail, a firsthand introduction to one of the most unique cultures worldwide. The Batwa pygmies are a forest people displaced from the rain forest they shared with mountain gorillas. This experience will give you the opportunity to learn more about their age-old culture while you enjoy a hike with the Batwa guides, see how they lived and hunted, hear ancient legends and learn about medical plants. The revenue generated from these activities directly benefits the Batwa to strengthen their community.

 

Day 8: Back to Kampala/Entebbe (9-10 hours).

After an early breakfast at the lodge, we will drive back to Kampala or Entebbe (Airport) stopping at the equator for the requisite snapshot and a bit of souvenir shopping.

Arrive in Kampala or Entebbe on evening for dinner and overnight or catch a night flight (Depending on your flight schedule).
